THE GLOBAL SUMMIT

tAKING GLOBAL ACTION TO ADVANCE GENDER EQUITY.

Fora's Global Summit program brings together accomplished young trailblazers facing gender discrimination from around the world for a year of leadership development, advocacy, and policy-creation training. Every session, networking event, and opportunity is designed to propel them forward on their leadership trajectory and help them advocate for gender equity in their local communities.

What is the global summit?

Global Summit Delegates attending in-person training sessions.

As Fora’s signature program, the Global Summit delivers training, networking, and leadership opportunities that support exceptional young leaders facing gender discrimination in making their voices heard at decision-making tables around the world.

The Global Summit program has a transformative impact on participants, who go on to change the status quo in their communities and on the international stage.

By investing in these young leaders today, we can shape what spaces of power look like tomorrow.

Past Delegates have gone on to advance gender equity and drive change in their communities around the world. From founding non-profits, to advocating at the United Nations, to pushing for national policy change, the Global Summit prepares Delegates to take the lead in creating a more just and more equitable future for all.

ABOUT THIS YEAR’S THEME

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the main global body solely dedicated to women's empowerment and gender equality. The Global Summit event brings together young leaders and advocates to engage in solutions-focused gender equity discussions that align with the upcoming CSW priority theme each year.

International Delegates of the Global Summit program would have also received leadership, advocacy, and community-building training before the event, to equip them with the tools to champion gender equity objectives in many decision-making spaces. The experience of engaging with other thought leaders and experienced professionals at the Global Summit event, broadens the Delegates' understanding of thematic solutions to gender equity issues within the scope of current affairs.

Following the event, Fora's Delegates will make recommendations to their CSW country representatives and other important stakeholders to influence the conversations had each year at UN headquarters, during the two weeks of CSW events and deliberations on what to include in the "Agreed Conclusions" (the outcome document of that year's theme). Country representatives are encouraged to take the actions suggested in the Agreed Conclusions back to their country to incorporate them into national policies and programs, and where possible, embed them through legislation. Each year in March, Member States report on what they have done to implement the actions which were previously agreed upon.

Aligning the Global Summit theme with the CSW is an impactful way for Fora's Delegates, international youth, and Canadian advocates to engage with the global goals for gender equity, and to collectively contribute towards change within their communities, countries and across the world.
